‘Silver Light’ – New Painting

July 29, 2016

Hello friends,

Over the last few months I am happy to say my art has been progressing very well. I have taken a lot of time since my previous two paintings to advance my art as a whole – working on technique and mindset. I feel the time was extremely beneficial and the work is stronger as a result.

Reflecting this well spent time is my new painting ‘Silver Light’ which I completed this week.  The painting sold within a day and will be kept on display in the Gallery for the next couple of weeks.

‘Silver Light’ – oil on canvas – 79cm x 79cm –SOLD.

During the time progressing my technique I was studying Michelangelo’s figures from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Below is one of the figures from ‘Silver Light’ beside the ‘Delphic Sibyl’ by Michelangelo. Here you can see how my figures are influenced by Michelangelo’s use of colour on drapery and the depiction of weight and solidity. There are so many elements of Michelangelo’s work that I adore. To me his art is perfection. A man who was so in control of his technique and with such a defined vision of what he wanted to achieve.

It is well worth taking a trip into Gormleys to view the work in the new Gallery which is two doors up from their previous premises.

I look forward to sharing my next painting with you,

Kind Regards,
Ronan Goti.
